When Gilligan arrived home later that day he immediately shouted Mell (that’s me) and started telling me all about this conversation with Derek (the insurance man) well I could not believe how enthusiastic he was about it.

The Upshot Of My Digging For Auto Insurance Info

I first did a realistic cost estimate with Gilligans help by contacting web hosting, design, companies etc. and requested estimates for a 100 page basic web site.

While we waited for these numbers to come back to us I started in on the long haul of finding out how hard it could be to build a website, Gilligan said you can do it old girl.

(the old fool still has faith me) Ha Ha.

Once I had the estimates I would then work out running costs in the same way I had most of my life, the off line costs of any business are pretty much the same, ie. Utility bills staff, stationary, etc. etc.

So after a week I had read so many forums, blogs and scam site articles about this web design business I was getting a feel for it.

At this point I said that if I was really serious about this Gilligan would need to start to be more involved with the chores.

Otherwise the point would come when I was so far in front but the house would take weeks to clean (he agreed I was right)

The very next morning he had the chores done by 9am. I was Ready to start in on the learning, first I browsed through hundreds of insurance companies web site’s.

Very enlightening it was too, as I said up at the beginning these sites are all much of a muchness so I could see an opening for us just in the design and layout, making our site user friendly would I thought be my priority.

Now if your like Gilligan and I just over a year ago, you will have no idea what HTML is, briefly it’s just a series of word’s and characters that form a code which let's the computer understand what your writing.

The fact is we now know that it is not necessary to understand HTML to build a website, loads of web sites out on the web are falling over themselves to sell you what we now know to be called:-

At this point the estimates started to come back for website design, hosting etc. These guy’s must have been Bankers at some time, they only know how to talk in the $1000’s nay $10’s of $1000’s.

The biggest shock is when you start to interrogate these shyster’s, and drag out of them the fact’s such as SEO. (Search Engine Optimization) This basicaly is how you get on the first page of Google search results.(or not) as the all have disclaimers.

It's either extra at vast extra cost or they do not do SEO. And you have to then find a SEO. Specialist.

Obviously this went straight out of the window, it served to make my determination much greater to succeed and to learn how to build your own website and determined I was believe me! to build a nice user friendly Auto insurance website myself.

I now returned to the scam, ratings and forums sites, this time I took Gilligan with me on the journey, in a quest looking for knowledge.

Have you ever noticed if you want to check out some site on the web before spending your hard earned cash how hard it can be.

The first thing you notice is that most of these so called scam rating or forum sites, actually have links on the pages to the site your trying to check out.

Now call me a an old sceptic if you will but it seems to me that a lot of these sites are set up on a shoe string with the sole purpose of giving a site a good review.

Just so they can then recommend it and get you to click through so they earn commission.m and spam web site's, with the ultimate goal of making your search experiance a plesent and informative one instead of what we have today.

Trust Google to get this right I do, it will just take a little more time that's all.

At least when this site you are on now provides a link, it is too a site you are actually looking for and we have checked.

Think about this for a minute, if I did what they do we would never get any repeat business and repeat business, selling auto insurance or any insurance is what this is all about.

If a consumer or business buys an anual insurance policy or policies from here, I want them to come back and renew it every year that’s how I will make our living, and build up credibility, certainly not by scamming people.
